Poet and composer, Lenelle Moïse, created fourteen songs with two loop machines, experimenting with vocal percussion, rolling trills, mouth-made clicks, high-pitched squeaks, melody, harmony and breath. Moïse’s smoky contralto joins forces with Karla Mosley’s winged soprano to sing playfully poly-rhythmic, entrancing, sensual and politically-conscious music. Originally written for Moïse’s critically-acclaimed Off-Broadway play Expatriate, the lyrics explore themes of homeland, love, sexual tension, addiction, survival, flight and freedom.
